Time - A Precious Commodity
Every day I realize how valuable time is. A second comes and a second goes - just like that - never to be repeated again. At the end of the day I look back and ask myself what I actually accomplished. Sometimes I am pleased, sometimes I am critical. But the truth is, each day I do make progress - and that is a blessing.
One day it will be my entire life that I look back on and I will ask myself the same question. Of course, there would be progress, but would there be regret? … Regret for the things that I wanted to accomplish but did not? …Regret for allowing the seconds to pass me by, unacknowledged and unappreciated?
At the end of the day, using the tool of reflection, I am able to examine and adjust. However, at the end of my life, I can examine but will not be able to adjust. Acknowledging this fact, as sobering as it is, is a motivator for me to do the work that I have to do, in the time I am given. NOW!
This past weekend I attended a seminar called Life Directions. It was instrumental in getting me to dream big, and work on refining my mission and my vision. I came out of the seminar with a clear purpose and a drive to get it done.
I also learned that every decision I make should align with my mission and move me towards my vision. With this in mind I get to remember how precious each second is. And with that I affirm, with enthusiasm, that I can overcome the daily distractions that are associated with working from home. I must, because I have big work to do.
